The Muljibhai Madhvani Foundation has since increased its scholarship funding from shs 400 million to shs 450 million to cope with the overwhelming demand of needy students and the rising tuition fees at higher institutions of learning.

“This increase of funds is important because we receive so many applications every year,” the Chairman for the Madhavani scholarship committee, Henry Kyemba said, adding,” over the years tuition fees has also been going up.”

Speaking in a separate interview at Sheraton Hotel in Kampala, Mr Kyemba said only less privileged students at various university doing sciences and commerce related subject will be considered for the scholarships.

He said this selection criteria was the wish of the founder-Mr Muljibhai, because he believed industrial development could be spurred by science and technology.
