THE Madhvani family has donated sh500m to needy Ugandan students joining institution of higher learning in the 2009 academic year.

The donation was given to the Madhvani Foundation, which sponsors disadvantaged students who excel in A'Level and intend to pursue science courses at university or technical institutions.

The offer was announced by Uganda's ambassador to India, Nimisha Madhvani, on Thursday during the launch of the foundation's alumni association at Hotel Africana.
