The Muljibhai Madhvani Foundation, formed by the Madhvani family in Uganda ahead of the country gaining independence in 1962 to honor the founder of their dynasty, has, over the decades, been a beacon of hope for thousands of Ugandan students, who while bright enough, could not have embarked on their studies and launched their careers without financial support towards tuition fees.

Yesterday, the foundation trustees launched the 2014/15 race towards scholarships, which last year benefited nearly 1,500 students of a wide cross section of fields, from engineering to law, agriculture to medicine, biology to information technology, and, of course, also for students in the hospitality, tourism, and environmental sectors, in which the business conglomerate is now heavily invested, with four lodges in Uganda and currently three lodges in Kenya. Both graduate and post-graduate students are eligible to apply as long as they meet the criteria outlined in the foundation’s guidelines.
