The Observer, 9th May, 2010 by John Musinguzi

University scholarships worth about Shs 500 million are now on offer by Madhvani Foundation. Announced by the Scholarship Committee Chairman, Henry Kyemba at Kampala Serena Hotel on May 4, the closing date for applications is May 31.

Kyemba said the foundation is looking for talented Ugandan students, both undergraduates and post graduates, of sound character who have difficulties paying for their university education.

“The selection process itself will be very stringent and transparent so no one should worry. I’d also like to warn dishonest characters about submitting false or misleading information. You will be found out and disqualified,” he cautioned.

Kyemba said since its reinstitution in 2003, the fund has assisted over 800 students at a total cost of Shs 1.3 billion.

He announced that application forms for the scholarships can be downloaded from the foundation website at www.madhvanifoundation.com and be filled in hard copies or collected from The Muljibhai Madhvani Building at plot 20/2 Jinja Road, Kampala.

The scholarships are offered to science and technical undergraduate students entering their second year and postgraduates for the entire course period.
